This is my common freshwater eel. He was caught in the royal military canal near Dymchurch 47 years ago. No light, no filter, no heater and lives on worms from my garden. The plants are artificial as he digs in the gravel.

One of my 5 tanks brings a sense of nature to my home and as helped with my mental health. Just staring at the wonderment in front of you takes you to an happy place. Yes hard work but would not change anything.

I see a lot of Discus in bare tanks and many experts tell me you can't grow plants in warm Discus tanks so a couple of years ago I had a try, I slowly acclimatised the plants in steady temperature increments for several months before introducing the jewels.

This tank was riddled with BBA from a rotting a driftwood moss bonsai tree- so we completely reset it. There are corydoras, hillstream loaches, rummynose tetras and harlequin rasboras with some shrimp and our prized assassin snail breeding colony.

This is our 8ft planted tank. It contains various species of predatory and community fish, including 6 Ctenopoma acutirostre, 7 Channa Bleheri, 12 Denison barbs and various species of tetra. The sheer size and complexity of the setup makes it a joy to watch.
