Woman kills tropical fish during domestic

A woman from California has been arrested for animal cruelty after she poured bleach into her husband's aquarium during a domestic argument.

According to The Mercury News, police went to the woman's home following reports that she was fighting with her husband to find that the husband appeared to have tampered with her car and disabled telephone lines to prevent his wife from leaving the house or speaking to anyone.

In retaliation the wife poured powdered bleach into his reef aquarium, killing all of the tropical marine fish inside.

The husband was arrested on suspicion of tampering with the telephone line and the car, while the wife was arrested on charges of animal cruelty.

The offence carries a maximum penalty of a $20,000 fine (about 11,430) or up to one year in prison.
