A violent inmate at a high security prison has been given a fish tank in the hope that it will help to calm him down.

Leon Wright, who is serving a six-year sentience in Portlaoise Prison in Ireland, is so disruptive that guards have to wear riot gear just to deal with him. The fish tank has been made available for him out on the prison landing and he has also been given a Playstation console unit. A garden area is reported to be under discussion too.

Wright is serving time for stabbing two people in 2013 in random attacks. He has 84 previous convictions, including 30 assaults, robberies and firearms offences and has been described in reports as 'one of Ireland’s most dangerous prisoners'. He has had more than 200 complaints against him in the prison.
