The video below shows the carcass of a creature that washed up on a beach in New Zealand recently, following severe storms.

It's described by Elizabeth Ann, who uploaded it onto YouTube, as having "a huge head and teeth with rudimentary flippers. It seems about 9m in length but the lower part of the body is probably mainly entrails from an attack."

The ferocious-looking creature's body was found on Pukehina Beach in the Bay of Plenty, and it soon led to speculation that it was a sea monster of some kind.

Any ideas what it might be?

Marine mammal expert Anton van Helden told New Zealand’s Sun Live newspaper that, based on the fin structure, it's probably a Killer whale or Orca, which is commonly found in the Bay of Plenty.
