How to set up your Christmas tank

Tropical Marine Centre has a Dragon eel (Enchelycore pardalis) on sale at its Bristol branch.

You'll need a large well-filtered tank, as this beautiful eel can reach up to 90cm/36". They're highly predatory and also reported to be on the aggressive side, with even large tankmates such as groupers being eaten or badly bitten - so a specimen tank seems to be the way to go with this one.

It requires plenty of hiding places in the form of caves and/or PVC pipes - and a strong lid to stop it escaping.

We're not sure of the price, but it's unlikely to be cheap - a price tag of £1,000 isn't unknown for these fish.

Please note that TMC supplies to the trade only, however if you see something you like, your local dealer may be able to get it for you.
