Looking for an aquatic gig this weekend? If you're in the south of the country, you're in for a treat, writes Nathan Hill, as Romsey World of Water celebrate their annual weekend fishkeeping bonanza!

It’s the event we’ve always wanted to visit, but each time we’ve been thwarted by other plans. Romsey World of Water’s aquatic events get hobbyists excited every time, and this year looks to provide a weekend to trump them all.

Romsey’s James Dwyer tells us: “Come down to our store on Saturday, February 28th 9-5pm and Sunday, March 1st 2015 10-4pm to see one of the largest independent aquatic stores in full swing.

“We have special guests in the form of industry heavyweights, TMC, Red Sea, FishScience, Innovative Marines, Nordic Reef, New Era, ALF, Trademark Aquatics, NT Labs, Seneye and Oase.

“There are competitions (and it’s still not too late to submit your entry to our Facebook photography competitions) including a raffle to win over £1000 pounds worth of prizes.

“All of our suppliers will be offering exclusive discounts on the day and of course we will have our excellent selection of livestock with exclusive show offers.

“Bring the family to enjoy our award winning lakes and gardens or to enjoy a home cooked meal in our café.

"Romsey World of water is located just outside Southampton on Greatbridge Road, Romsey, Hampshire, SO51 0HB, where it has traded for over 40 years.

“Help us celebrate on the weekend of Feb 28th, and if you need more information please call 01794 515 923, or drop us an email at [email protected]

And if that still hasn’t convinced you, Romsey’s general manager Mark Bradbury adds: “I have some rather exciting news, in time for our annual Tropical Event.

“We have 5 Captive Bred Clarkii Clownfish, Amphiprion clarkii galaxy (special A-grade) and it is my current understanding we are the only ones to currently have them in the U.K, and for sale in time for our Tropical Event weekend.

“They are a good size, the smallest two being approximately 4 plus cm and the other three approximately 6 plus cm.

“There may well be further exciting updates in the period leading up to the event (such as more choice hand-selected fish arriving), and we will keep you posted!”
