A robotic shark has been introduced into the main tank at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth.
The 2m'/6'6" Roboshark2, is due to spend three years alongside the resident Sand tiger sharks. The robot has been designed as a way of gathering data on shark behaviour. Conventional methods, such as using divers with underwater cameras modify shark behaviour so don't give completely conclusive results.
The shark can swim around a 3mph for four hours before its batteries run out.
