Otters have eaten thousands of pounds worth of fish kept in a private lake owned by TV angler John Wilson.

Wilson, of Go Fishing, told the EDP that otters had killed carp and catfish at his lake in Great Witchingham in Norfolk.

Said Wilson: "The problem with releasing otters into Norfolk's rivers is, during the lean winter months, they find very little to eat. Consequently, they leave the river and make their way to the nearest well-stocked gravel pond or fishery and precede to decimate it.

"It is heartbreaking to watch the predators attack fish that you have spent 20 years rearing."
