Issue Summary

‘Fish will only grow to the size of their tanks.’ Never has a more prolific mistruth been spoken, and somehow our hobby still not only retains this awful myth, but promulgates it. I wish I could find the source, so that I can cut the head off of it, Jason-v-Medusa style, once and for all.

What's in this Issue?

‘Fish will only grow to the size of their tanks.’ Never has a more prolific mistruth been spoken, and somehow our hobby still not only retains this awful myth, but promulgates it. I wish I could find the source, so that I can cut the head off of it, Jason-v-Medusa style, once and for all.

For many years, we were making progress against the abundance of fishkeeping myths, but recently it’s like someone has found an Egyptian tomb full of the things, and released their curse fresh upon us again.

Thankfully, we’ve got Tim Smith on side. The South African ichthyologist is making it his mission to purge us of the half-truths and lies that taint this hobby. You’ll find it on page 32, and it’s an interesting read, for sure...
