Issue Summary

Has the humble goldfish had its day as the starter fish for newcomers? Confined to tiny bowls and neglected for as long as the hobby has existed, we’ve all long awaited a replacement colourful enough to appeal to the beginner. Max Pedley’s feature on page 10 flags a potential new candidate for the starter fishkeeper — the striking Rice fish of Oryzias. Have a look and tell me you don’t want some.

This is also the issue where we catch up with Jack Heathcote. You might not know the name, but you’ll likely know his tank, all 22,000 litres of it. He’s back with his latest set-up, and it’s the very essence of cool.

Alas, there’s no Tailpiece this month, but it isn’t gone for good — I just had to clear some room at the last minute for other awesome features, and I decided that if anyone’s writing was going to go, well then that would have to be mine. Normal service will resume in time for Christmas though, I promise.
