A new tourist attraction in the Philippines, which takes passengers underwater in yellow submarines has been suspended, after a diver captured video footage of one of the vessels hitting part of a coral reef.

The Cebu Yellow Submarine undersea tours were only launched this month. Now the Lapu-Lapu City Government has suspended the operating permit, with the city Mayor ordering the company behind the tours to cease operation pending investigation.

The operators have also been asked by the Maritime Industry Authority why they failed to submit a report following the incident last week.

The submarine descends to 35m during the tour, and can carry up to 48 passengers on each trip.
