An American company has come up with a fish tank that may meet mixed reviews from hobbyists.

Fascinations based in Seattle have designed a USB desktop aquarium designed to be "Practical and Fun…the ultimate conversation piece and the perfect gift".

Weighing in at just 1kg and measuring 18 x 23 x 10 cm, the tank holds just 1.4 l. of water, comes with a filter, an overhead LED light and a pump for re-circulating water. In addition it also comes with a desk caddy and a multi-function alarm clock.

Although pictured with goldfish in the tank Ed Hones, a sales representative at Fascinations, told PFK: "The fish tank is only 1.5 quarts so it is not safe for two goldfish; we recommend smaller fish."
