A fishkeeper lost thousands of pounds worth of catfish and equipment when a car smashed into the side of her house in Shenley, Hertfordshire.
The car came crashing through the garden fence and hit the wall of Diane Mantle's house — which was protected to some degree by bags of old bricks left over from recent building work.
The driver of the car was reportedly shaken but uninjured. However, Ms Mantle's fish were not so lucky.
Four of her tanks were broken in the impact, which happened on the side of the house her fish room is situated in.
In a report by the Borehamwood Times, she said: "My catfish are worth £45 to £200 and the vibrations of the car hitting the house killed around 14 of them. When I ran into my fish room and saw them dead, I was in floods of tears.
"I paid around £200 for the tanks but they were left with cracks, causing puddles of water to spill on the floor.
"They were my pride and joy — they meant everything to me."
Although the car didn't come right into the house, it has still caused damage to the wall and ceilings and Ms Mantle has been warned that she will need to move out while repairs are carried out.
