This is the Koi that won the 1st All European Shinkokai Koi Show, which took place in June in the Netherlands.

It belongs to Belgium hobbyist couple (André Verpoucke and Conny de Jaegher) and it's a Sanke called 'Sunshine'. The fish is five years old and measures 87cm.

'Sunshine' was bred by the Sakai Fish Farm from the Hiroshima region in Japan and it was judged Grand Champion out of 486 Koi in the show.

The show was held in The Gardens of Appeltern in Appeltern, the Netherlands, and almost 10.000 hobbyists from Europe attended the event.

Five Japanese judges came over to judge the Koi and they were impressed by the high quality of the fish, which suggests that knowledge about Koi in Europe is rising.

The 2nd All European Shinkokai Koi Show will be held June 8-10 2012 in The Gardens of Appeltern in Appeltern, the Netherlands.
