A pondkeeper from Scotland has been left a little red-faced after reporting the theft of 16 pondfish - only for them to be discovered ‘lurking' at the bottom of the pond later.

An investigation had been launched after the Koi and goldfish, worth around £400, went missing overnight on Sunday from a pond in Kirkpatrick Fleming, Dumfries and Galloway.

The fish were later found in the pond by their owner.

However, police are still investigating the theft of 15 Koi from a pond in the nearby Springfield area of Gretna in April.
