A mural of a shark is to be removed as businesses fear it will scare off tourists.

The mural on a water tank of a basking shark in Kaikoura on New Zealand's South Island was painted by marine conservationist Jono Moore back in 2009.

But despite the fact that the image depicts a harmless filter feeder, local businesses fear that it will put visitors off swimming in the sea and trade would suffer as a result. The council voted 7-1 to remove it.
