May 8 saw the Anniversary of the Qingdao aquarium, bringing in aquarium representatives from Japan and China, and over 80 more local experts.
Qingdao was opened to the public back in 1932, having been started in 1930 by famous Chinese education pioneer and cultural activist Cai Yupenei.
The aquarium is actively engaged in educating the public about the life and science of marine ecosystems, and has a reputation for being China’s most important base of operations for popularising science amongst the country’s youngsters.
To celebrate the anniversary, thousands of square metres across the Shangdong province were utilised for activities to promote science, and it is expected that over 100,000 people in the region will benefit from this.
