A new aquatic section has opened at Hayes Garden World in Ambleside.

The new "World of Aquatics" at Hayes Garden World – the largest garden centre in the Lake District – is housed in a fabulous 6000 square foot, purpose-designed building.

It's home to a fantastic variety of freshwater, tropical and marine fish, probably the largest collection in the North of England.

The specialist aquatics centre is managed by Alan Cooke, who has over 20 years of experience of fishkeeping. He says: "I am delighted with what we have to offer at Hayes World of Aquatics. We have an extensive selection of tropical fish, including L-number plecs and Corydoras. We also have a growing collection of marine fish varieties, and a selection of invertebrates.

"Alongside the fish we also offer a vast range of accessories and fish tanks; everything from small nano aquariums to five foot tanks. I am usually on hand to offer advice to our fishkeeping customers, whether they are beginners or old hands. Meeting the customers and talking through their requirements and their experience of the pleasure their hobby has brought them through the years is the part of the job I love most”.

Hayes Garden World is the largest garden and leisure centre in the Lake District, with extensive displays of plants, large indoor shopping areas, a 250-seat on-site cafe and ample free parking. It's located just 200 yards from the centre of Ambleside, on the main A591.
