New species - Nannocharax reidi

A new species of distichodontid has been described from Cameroon's Cross River.

Richard Vari and Carl J Ferraris Jr described the new fish at Nannocharax reidi in the journal Proceedings of the Biological Society of Washington.

The Nannocharax was collected from several localities in the upper Cross River basin in Cameroon.

The colour pattern and a unique combination of merisitic and morphological characters distinguish N. reidi from other members of the Nannocharax and Hemigrammocharax clade to which the fish is believed to belong.
