British fish food manufacturer New Era has launched two new pelleted foods aimed at African and American cichlids.
New Era Cichlid Pellets African are aimed at herbivorous African cichlids, and contain a blend of five different algae and plant extracts to produce a pellet that is low in protein but high in colour-enhancing carotenoid pigments.
The New Era Cichlid Pellets American are rich in protein, and contain fish, shrimps and other crustaceans, which provide nutrition and act as natural colour enhancers.
Mark Wilson, New Era's technical director, said: There are thousands of different types of cichlids and choosing the correct nutrition for the right species is essential to create their natural environment artificially, ensuring that the correct nutrients are absorbed and the fish are happier, healthier and live longer.
New Era did not provide prices for the new pellets.
