While talking to UK Dymax distributor AquaMart UK a while ago, a nano skimmer was discussed - and now it's here.

Slim and compact at 5cm wide x 25cm high, it will fit discreetly into the back of open-topped nano tanks or, if you have the luxury, a sump.

It has the usual, pump, square box, collection cup and adjustable air intake and also a useful additional feature we thought was the magnet fitting, enabling really flexible fitting options without fuss. If you have traditional style stress bars a clamp fitting is also supplied.

Build quality isn’t great and it does feel plasticy, but what do you expect for £49.99? The value is in that magnet fitting and the compact size.

It’s rated for marine aquariums up to 200 l/44 gal, though I would want to halve that rating if I had fish. The pump delivers 600 lph/32 gph for 15w of energy before being mixed with the air.

AquaMart UK produces a premium skimmer range called Skimz, which we’ll feature in a future issue of PFK.
