Fishkeepers Terry and Shirley Nelson have taken the Fish of Fishes award for 2009 at this year's Yorkshire Open Show.

The annual event, which was held near York this weekend, saw them take their first Fish of Fishes award in 34 years on the show circuit.

Their Malawi cichlid, Metriaclima lombardoi, which they have raised from a juvenile purchased two years ago, was awarded 88 points by YAAS judges.

The show was well attended with around 100 fishkeepers attending the event's auction, and around 271 fish entered, including 11 others in the Fish of Fishes award - a record for the venue.
