Owner Monty Ray, who has run the shop since 1987, has decided that now the shop is settled and thriving in its new premises he deserves a well-earned retirement as he approaches his 70th birthday next year.
"I’ve been here for the better part of 30 years and Tri-Mar itself will be 50 next year, so I’ve decided it’s time for a rest," he says.
The shop boasts high-spec, bespoke display aquaria featuring 84 tropical, 23 coldwater and 30 marine tanks as well as four coral trays and a large aquatic plant cascade. Alongside this is an extensive dry goods display featuring everything the aquarist could want from tanks to thermometers and fish food to filters. A room devoted to pond equipment means every aspect of the hobby is covered.
Tri-Mar also has a dedicated reptile, amphibian and invert room filled with lizards, frogs, snakes and other cold-blooded land dwelling exotics, while a large mezzanine area offers the owners generous stock holding capacity away from the shop floor.
Ample on-site parking and easy, level access means the shop is open to all.
