A man who was a little the worse for drink rammed his new luxury car into an aquatic shop in India, resulting in the deaths of over 2,000 fish.

Losses included marine fish and corals, with clownfish, damsels and butterflyfish among the casualties after the tanks in which they were swimming shattered on impact with Mayank Pal’s vehicle in the early hours of Friday morning.

Raghvendra Agarwal, who owns the store in Ekta Nagar, Mumbai, alleges that he sustained a loss of around Rs 10 lakh (around £10,500), according to the report by Times of India.

A police spokesman confirmed that the incident was under investigation.
