A group of Koi will decide the lucky winner of a 675,000 house in Lancashire's scenic Fylde coast that comes with a sauna and steam room.

The upscale detached house is being offered as the prize for an online Sudoku competition being run by puzzle fanatic and insurance broker Dave Mackie, 49.

Dave plans to install a touch-sensitive pad in his pond and let the koi in it select the winner from thousands of entries when they brush against it.

According to Dave, As well as being beautiful and majestic creatures, koi have an aura about them and are very perceptive and sensitive to what is going on around them.

They are the ideal symbols of love and friendship and I have no doubt they will pick the right winner " someone who will get on with the neighbours and someone who will look after the fish themselves.

The online competition is being run until 1 February, or until 14,000 entries are received. Aspiring owners of the home have to pay a 50 entry fee and complete the puzzle for a chance in the draw.
