Show off your aquascaping skills and you could win a cash prize in the first UK Aquascaping Championship.

J and K Aquatics has announced the launch of the first UK Aquascaping Championship. The competition, which is sponsored by Dennerle, Tetra, Eheim and Arcadia and is supported by UK aquascaper Alastair Treymaine, offers aquascapers based in the UK and RoI the opportunity to win a £500 cash prize along with a range of prizes from the competition sponsors.

Open for entries from April until midnight on August 14, 2015, the competition allows UK and RoI based aquascapers to show off their aquatic layout talents. The competition will run in two stages — the first of which requires entrants to submit a photograph of their aquascape for judging by a panel of industry and aquascaping experts, made up of:

  • Chris Lukhaup, Dennerle GmbH
  • Stefan Hummel, Dennerle GmbH
  • Serkan Çetinkol, Turkey
  • Paul James, UK
  • Alastair Treymaine, UK

A cap on 250 entrants has been applied to the competition and all aquascapes must be in existence and be available for inspection if required. A £10 entry fee and entry criteria is applicable for all entries. Aquascapers can enter the competition by visiting the official UKASC website.

Each aquascape will be judged against the competition criteria and entrants will be ranked in accordance to the judges' decisions. The top three entrants will scoop one of the fantastic cash prizes up for offer with first place taking £500 and being awarded the title of UK Aquascaping Champion at the Aqua trade show in Telford in October 2015! All entrants will be awarded a certificate with their ranking.

Prizes include:
1st place – Cash prize £500, Arcadia OTL LED (ce100f), Eheim Pro 3 2075 Filter, Tetra goodies, trophy and certificate.
2nd place – Cash prize £350, Arcadia OTL LED (ce60f), Eheim Ecco Pro 300, Tetra goodies and certificate.
3rd place – Cash price £200, Eheim Ecco Pro 200, Tetra goodies and certificate.

The top three aquascapers will then be invited to take place in a live "scape off" on J and K Aquatics' stand at Aqua 2015 in October. The people that attend the Aqua show will be able to vote for a winner, who will receive a further £150. Also all three finalists will be able to keep their creations.
