The National Marine Aquarium is bringing you the opportunity to work in the prestigious Heron Tower development at Bishopsgate, London - home to a fabulous 70,000 l/15,550 gal marine aquarium.
Opportunities like this don't come round very often. The marine aquarium located in the lobby of Heron Tower is the largest in private hands in Britain. It's 12m long by 2m wide and has a water depth of 3.6m. It contains around 1200 fish of more than 60 different species.
The National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth has supplied the fish in the aquarium and is responsible for their ongoing care and maintenance.
It's now looking for an Assistant Biologist (full and/or part time) to work with its team at Heron Tower.
You will be working as part of a small but dedicated team responsible for delivering a consistently exceptional display in the foyer of the City of London's tallest building. The exhibit is based on the reefs around Heron Island, Australia and contains animals found there.The team work on a rota’d basis to provide seven-day cover, providing the very best exhibit maintenance, animal nutrition and welfare, diving operations, record keeping and reporting.
The successful candidate will ideally be located within easy reach of the centre of London. You will be professional, punctual and well presented. You will be an excellent communicator and proficient in the use of computers. A diving qualification in the form of HSE part IV or PADI Divemaster are essential and experience in aquatic animal husbandry of at least one year is preferable.
Normal work location will be in London but there may be occasions when you will be required to travel to the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth for short periods. This position is open to applicants seeking full or part time hours.
