Interpet and Hozelock Cyprio took the top prizes in the prestigious new product awards at this year's Glee trade show at the NEC.

The Glee New Products Award for Aquatics, which was judged by Practical Fishkeeping magazine's Technical Editor Matt Clarke, was taken by Interpet for their new PF range of internal power filters.

Said Matt: "The PF range has been cleverly designed and solves a number of minor niggles seen in competing products. It is easy to use, looks good, should work as effectively or more so than the market leader and comes with excellent instructions.

"The main bonus is the addition of a patented 'Aqua Cap' valve in the base, which prevents dirty water back into the aquarium during maintenance."

In the Water Gardening category, which was judged by Steve Windsor, Editor of the Complete Guide to Water Gardening, Hozelock Cyprio was a clear winner with a highly innovative product for the small or medium sized garden pond - the Easy-Clear Clearwater and Fountain Pump.

The pond pump combines a basic UV and small filter in a single compact unit, making it ideal for those who want a clear pond but don't want to have a separate filter and UV sitting next to the pond.

Judge, Steve Windsor said: "No garden is too small for a water feature and this particular product solves a problem for the owners of small ponds and large water features by combining everything they need for a clean-looking, healthy pond into one compact unit.

"The technology may not be new but it is well combined in this unit. The judges felt this will walk off the shelves in garden centres and its RRP of 149.99 makes it an attractively priced unit."
