Three Polish SCUBA divers are being investigated by police for alledgedly plying a pike with booze at a New Year's party, according to a report from Reuters.

The investigation arose after a photograph was printed in the Nowa Trybuna showing a diver apparently pouring champagne down the throat of a large pike, Esox lucius.

One of the divers told the paper that the pike had been found "half-dead" and that they wanted to "restore it to consciousness by treating it with champagne."

It is unclear whether the fish survived the incident.
