World famous reef aquarium owner David Saxby, who is also director of D-D the Aquarium Solution, is to illuminate his aquarium exclusively with LED lighting.
Known across the globe and featured several times in PFK over the years, David Saxby's huge 10' x 7' x 4' 'L'-shaped reef is to be changed from being lit by multiple 400 watt HQIs and T5 tubes (as pictured above) to all LED lighting from Aqua Illumination.
The D-D owner has been sceptical of early LED lighting up until this point, so by choosing to use the new technology, it is also a statement to say that he has found one that he is truly confident in.
This brave move will also help to silence the doubters, who although aware that his company has gained worldwide distribution of AI, outside of the US, wanted to see him use the lighting on his own highly prized tank and its livestock.
Aqua Illumination LED lighting is controllable, dimmable and includes a thunderstorm mode.
Sales director Stuart Bertram told PFK that AI are designed with PAR values suitable for lighting a proper reef tank, which will be no mean feat on Mr Saxby's 120cm/4' deep tank.
