The winners of this year's British Wildlife Photography award went to Richard Shucksmith with this outstanding image of the jellyfish in the Blue Sea of Sula Sgeir in Scotland.
Meaning Gannet Rock, the award winning image was taken at Sula Sgeir, a small uninhabited Scottish Island 41 miles north of Lewis.
The British Wildlife competition is now in its third year and has again produced some amazing quality entries with images appearing from remote places such as the winning entry, making them all the more appealing when judged.
Competition judge Paul Wilkinson, Head of Living Landscape for The Wildlife Trusts, said: "We are delighted to see how many people from around the UK were inspired by the competition to explore nature in their local area. This year’s entries reflected a real passion, and affection, for local wildlife. This competition is a special opportunity to give the natural world that surrounds us the recognition, and reverence, it deserves."
The winning entry received a prize of £5,000, so well worth the trouble, with the Young British Wildlife Photographer competition winners bagging £500 and £300 respectively.
Due to the ongoing success of the competition the BWPA are proud to announce a touring exhibition of 70 stunning images at the first ever WildlifeXpo which takes place at Alexandra Palace, London until October 28.
A year-long tour of the exhibition will follow throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
