An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Freshwater Aquarist to join Blue Planet Aquarium.

The responsibilities of the Freshwater Aquarist will be varied, challenging, but extremely rewarding. You will be responsible for the freshwater displays to ensure the highest standard of animal care and husbandry.

You will be responsible for maintaining and developing displays and exhibits — promoting public education and awareness in relation to conservation of biodiversity and delivering a memorable and entertaining experience to visitors. In addition to your main responsibilities on the freshwater systems, you will also assist the rest of the Zoological Team with the running and maintenance of all the Aquarium’s other displays, including our reptile, amphibian and marine exhibits.

This post is full time, with weekend shifts allocated on a rota basis.

A degree or equivalent in a relevant biological science is advantageous, as is previous relevant experience in the visitor attractions sector.

Practical experience of working with freshwater fish and knowledge of aquarium life support systems are essential.

If interested, please send your CV and covering letter to: Janeen Pickup, Aspro UK Group HR Manager, c/o Blue Planet Aquarium, Cheshire Oaks, Cheshire, CH65 9LF. Or email [email protected].
