A French author who alledged that Disney had based Finding Nemo on his book has lost his battle to stop the sales of Finding Nemo in France, says Herald.

Franck le Calvez wrote a book called Pierrot le Poisson Clown before Disney launched Finding Nemo and found that Nemo and some of the other characters shared a very similar appearance. He says that French shops won't stock his book because it is too similar to the Disney version and asked the courts to stop the sale of Nemo merchandise in France.

Le Calvez said he copyrighted his idea in 1995 after approaching film makers and published his book in 2002. Disney said they were first because they had Nemo on paper in 2000.
