A dolphin performance host at Changsha Underwater World, in central China's Hunan Province, has drowned after falling into the performance pool.

The woman, who was a new recruit at the aquarium, was knocked into the pool at around 1.30pm last Thursday by a large wave caused by a jumping dolphin she was touching, reports Xinhuanet.

Staff pulled her from the water, but she died at the scene, despite efforts by medical staff to save her.
