Review: Easy-Life Catappa-X

As the Catappa trend continues, it stood to reason that somebody was going to create a liquid version somewhere down the line, says Nathan Hill. And Easy-Life has stepped up to the plate and done just that.

Catappa-X is dosed at a rate of 10ml per 100 l. weekly. Catappa isn’t about dropping pH, it’s more marketed as a general tonic, which claims to aid colouring (Catappa often does, yes), reduce pathogens (yep), improve growth (maybe) and assist slime coat (yep). In that respect, it’s a great tonic to have on hand if you’re the kind of aquarist that likes a little bit of palliative curing involved with your fish; if that’s you, then it’ll be right up your alley.

I have to concede, given that the product has no noted side effects at standard dose rates, there’s no reason not to use it.

To plagiarise a massive retail chain, 'every little helps'.

Verdict

For those who want the benefit of Catappa without the physical presence of leaves or bark, then here’s an easy solution.

It’s also good for those who wish to increase the amount of acid gradually, rather than add a few leaves and adopt a 'wait and see' attitude.

Price: £11.50 (500ml). More info from www.aquadip.com
