Woman badly bitten by piranhas

A woman cleaning out her son's aquarium has been badly bitten by his piranhas.

DeHavilland reports that the woman believed the fish to be goldfish which had just been well fed.

However, when she attempted to remove the fish from the aquarium to empty it, one of the piranhas latched onto her hand, in what DeHavilland reports as "an attempt to feed".

The piranha decided not to let go and the woman had to call an ambulance.

The story concludes: "Doctors told her that she was lucky not to have lost her hand in the incident, but she has lost most of the skin from two of her fingers as a result."
