Tropical Marine Centre has extended its popular range of marine aquarium lighting with a new AquaBeam 1500 XG Ultima solid state aquarium lighting tile.

Although it looks virtually identical to the AquaBeam 1000 HD TMC launched last year, Tropical Marine Centre claims that the new AquaBeam 1500 XG provides a massive 52% more light output.

Powered by 10 of the latest CREE XP-G PowerLEDs, which run at 9000K, the Ultima has a penetrative white glow which TMC calls Ocean White.

Like other models in the TMC LED line, the AquaBeam 1500 XG now provides a wide angle beam to maximise the light spread each 20 x 20cm tile produces.

TMC says the 1500 XG will provide 50,000 hours of light (six times more than a standard fluorescent tube) as well as lower running costs and "the highest useable output of light per unit of energy consumed, with all light output being visible and directed towards the aquarium."

Like the other AquaRay and AquaBeam models, the AquaBeam 1500 XG can be suspended above the tank or mounted on versatile aluminium rails using the optional Modular Mounting System (MMS) fitting kit.

Practical Fishkeeping published an AquaBeam 1000 HD review in the October 2009 issue of the magazine.
