After ten years as Secretary General of the global aquatic trade body Ornamental Fish International (OFI) John Dawes has stood down.

John and wife Vivian, who is OFI's administrator, said:

"It has been an umissable experience life experience for us, with the added dimension that we have, at all times, felt that we've been involved in significant work relating to our industry. We have enjoyed the privilege of working with a dedicated team of people and serving a global network of supportive members throughout this period."

John is to be replaced by Dr Alex Ploeg, who has been OFI's Dutch advisor for several years. Alex is a former fish breeder and wholesaler and holds a doctorate in the ichthyology of tropical fishes. He has also been involved with Dibevo, the Dutch pet trade association.
