Nemo's Place in St. Austell, Cornwall, which Practical Fishkeeping reviewed in its shoptour in the October 2014 issue, has closed.

The marine focused shop had a final "everything must go" auction of stock, fixtures and fittings on August 30, just over a year after its official opening. Owners Darren Wilson and Annika Warne took the decision due to the time constraints of running Nemo’s alongside their two other businesses after failing to find new owners for the aquatic shop.

Announcing the impending closure on their Facebook account last month Darren said: "We would like to take this opportunity to give a big thanks to all our loyal customers who have made having Nemo’s such a pleasure. We love you all and will still be next door if you require any assistance or help. It’s been amazing to meet you all and help you through your fishkeeping journeys."

Explaining the closure he said: "We would like to stress we are NOT closing for any reason other than our other business commitments in St. Austell and and Rome are just too much to put any more time into Nemo’s — it’s just tiring us out too much."
