Discus fanciers are meeting at the end of the month for the International Discus World Championship in Duisberg, Germany.

Mark Evenden of specialist Discus retailer Devotedly Discus told Practical Fishkeeping that the event should include around 380 fish in a trade fair covering 6000 square metres.

Said Evenden: "I am entering four fish and taking a trade stand again. The British and International Discus Keeper's Association (BIDKA) also have a stand at the event."

The event, which is the largest in the world for Discus enthusiasts, carries prize funds over £20,000.

The 336 fish in the running for the prizes are due to be judged by Annie De Maesschalck of Belgium, Lawrence Chong of Singapore, Kuo Yun Kuan of Taiwan, Germany's Horst Linke, Bosse Quiding of Sweden and American Peter Thode.

The Championship takes place from September 30 to October 3 2010.
