Italian aquarium product manufacturer has voluntarily recalled batches of its Theo aquarium heater.
Hydor have asked all customers who purchased a Theo 300W aquarium heater with batch numbers 929, 932, 939 or 946 to stop using the product immediately and take it back to the store where purchased.
The recall comes after routine tests on the heaters revealed a fault in the glass tubes used. The fault is believed only to affect 300w models in the 929, 932, 939 and 946 batches.
Hydor said that the defect could cause irregular functioning of the heating element which could burn or cause the glass to crack.
Despite the risk, the company said that up to now only four cases have been reported - two in the USA and Italy, but as yet no reports from the UK
The batch number is situated on the product label and sits below the line which reads 'Product Made in Italy by Hydor.'
