Scotland's Kirkaldy Aquarist Society is celebrating the Golden Anniversary of its first open show this year with a special open show and auction on Sunday April 10th.

The Society, which dates back to 1927, held its first open show back in 1955 and is one of Scotland's biggest fishkeeping groups.

The Society told PFK: "As well as place cards and prizes, we are giving the trophy classes special prizes that have been donated by local companies and individuals. Prizes range from cash awards to Caithness glass and spirits."

Kirkaldy Aquarist Society secretary Joe Graham told us: "The history of KAS has always stemmed around breeding and showing tropical and coldwater fish, with lots of our members having fish houses holding many tanks.

"This enabled the club to move with the times and adapt, collecting both breeding and showing expertise. Some clubs that have specialised in only one aspect of the hobby have long since fallen by the wayside.

"KAS always says it is important to listen to its members. This is why we hold 50 meetings a year, enabling the members to meet frequently and so they are family of friends and not strangers."

The show takes place on Sunday 10th April at Balwearie High School, Kirkaldy, Scotland. For more details contact Show Manager John Reid on 01738 634689.
