A fisherman from Hawaii has died after being impaled by a swordfish he had himself just speared.
Randy Llanes had jumped into the water in Honokohau harbour and speared the 6ft fish using a speargun, after he saw it swimming near his boat. But the line became entangled in a mooring anchor and the fish swam at high speed towards Llanes, hitting him in the chest with its 3ft 'sword'.
Llanes — who had more than 25 years of fishing experience — was rushed to hospital, but emergency staff were unable to revive him.
