Eddie the dog-eating eel has killed a goose, according to reports from the Australian press.
The Herald Sun says that the giant eel, which has been named Eddie in honour of its first victim - a Jack Russel terrier - swallowed a goose on Wednesday night.
Eddie, who lives in the Yarra River, Warburton, reportedly came out of the water and took a swallowed a goose which was being fed by an angler on a trout farm.
"The water swirled around and the goose disappeared - Eddie the eel just swallowed him up..."
Farm manager Gary Whales told the Herald Sun that the man was white as a ghost after witnessing the incident:
"He was fishing on the Yarra in Warburton and feeding bread to the geese and apparently the water swirled around and the goose disappeared - Eddie the eel just swallowed him up."
The Herald says that Wales dismissed claims that the story was invented as a publicity stunt.
