A rescue centre in North Wales is looking for a home for four goldfish, which were found abandoned in their tank in a house last November.

The RSPCA's Bryn-y-Maen  animal centre in Upper Colwyn Bay is now trying to find a permanent home for them.

Kennel and cattery supervisor Chris Butler said: "They are currently small but could grow up to 40cm/16in if provided with the appropriate care.

"It is a myth that they grow to the size of their tank and if kept in these conditions it can cause stunted growth, medical conditions – and as a result – a reduced lifespan. Goldfish could live for 20 years in the correct conditions.

"We originally had nine goldfish and two toads. Five fish and the two toads have been rehomed. So we would love to see these four goldfish find a new home as well."

If you think you can offer the goldfish a home, please get in touch with Bryn-y-Maen animal centre on 0300 123 0745 or email [email protected].
