AvatarThe tank that Jack built

"Great to see people who like to keep big fish provide them with suitable sized tanks. Really well designed...I like it.

Just a couple of notes:

I had a problem with my 26" giraffe catfish bothering one of my big stingrays in my 15,000 US gallon tank (56,000 litres) and the catfish got so bad he had to be removed and placed in my big tank.

Also I had a problem with Pangasius sanitswongi in my big tank (52,000 US gallon - 196,000 litres) bothering my 2 Arapaima arapaima and I had to give the Pangasius s. away to a friend with a large pond.
Pangasius hypophthalmus I think would be fine in Jack's tank."

AvatarArapaima may be closer to extinction

"Although there are no data on catch levels or status of wild populations, available information suggests that Pirarucu are in decline.

???????????? No data or status of wild populations

Exactly what available information gives any support to their decline."

AvatarFive Arapaima species, not one

"I have seen this news in no other tropical fish magazine. Thank you for this update on the genus. just a note I believe Dr Leandro Castello might be the correct spelling as I have seen the doctor collaborate with Prof Stewart with papers in the past."

AvatarMeet the Expert: Heiko Bleher

"I have been a friend of Heiko since the 1980's.

He is truly a remarkable person and has an incredible memory.

His knowledge of the fish I keep is amazing."
