Content Syndication

If you run a fishkeeping website or forum, you can use selected parts of Practical Fishkeeping content, including news headlines and details of the latest articles published, on your own website.

However, the use of our syndicated content is subject to our Terms and Conditions and we do require that the proper attribution and format is used whenever our material is displayed on external sites.

It is prohibited to reproduce images, logos, articles or news stories from Practical Fishkeeping on external sites, including forums and databases, without express written permission from Emap Active Ltd.

What newsfeeds do you offer for syndication?

We currently offer three newsfeeds: one for fish news (fishnews.rdf), one for article headlines (simple.rdf) and one which includes article headlines and a snippet of information on the content of the article (descriptive.rdf).

How do I incorporate this newsfeed into my website?

There are several ways to do this. Experienced web developers can create a parser to read the XML contained in our newsfeeds and generate headlines which integrate perfectly into their website. If you don't want to write your own, there are many pre-written scripts available for this purpose.

Less experienced developers can use one of the many online services available that allow feeds to be integrated into websites produced in a range of scripting languages.

Do you offer an affiliate scheme?

Yes. Through our subscriptions site, GreatMagazines.co.uk, we can now offer an affiliate programme for fishkeeping websites to display advertisements for Practical Fishkeeping subscriptions to their users.

We offer all partners a competitive 7% commission on all sales made by customers sent from your site based on 90-day cookie expiry! It's free to join, you will be paid direct monthly and can monitor your account 24 hours a day.

You could, for example, display a copy of our latest cover using the code above and ask visitors to support your site by taking out a subscription to PFK. More »

How do I include an image of the latest issue cover?

This images changes automatically each time a new issue of PFK is published, so by inserting this link, your site will always display the cover of the current issue in the shops.
