| There are few keen reefkeepers who haven't heard of Sevenoaks Tropical Marine, or STM as it's more commonly known. The shop has an excellent reputation for both the quality of the livestock it sells and for the knowledge of its dedicated staff team, so it was no surprise that PFK readers voted it Practical Fishkeeping Marine Retailer of the Year in 2004/2005, 2005/2006, 2006/2007. The shop opened in 1995 but has had a major refit in the past couple of years, making it a very stylish, spacious and modern store inside. STM are particularly well-known for their corals, many of which are produced on the shop's own coral farm. The farm, which has been supplying maricultured Acropora and soft corals for the past six years, allows the shop to carry very high stock levels of inverts and it's environmentally friendly, too. Says STM: "Our dedicated purpose built farm offers a range of farmed corals and forms an important part of our philosophy of respecting nature and helping relieve the pressure on corals taken from the wild." Besides the excellent range of livestock, the shop also has a great selection of dry goods, especially on the marine side of things, with products from ab Aqua Medic, Deltec, Arcadia, Underworld, TMC, Kent, Hagen, AAP and Korallin, as well as many of STM's speciality products. But, while marines are the main focus here, there are also a good range of tropicals and coldwater fish on offer. STM say that they all started keeping tropical and coldwater fishes, and they're still an important part of the operation.
