| Established in 1973, the Aquatic Habitat has long been regarded as one of the UK’s finest Aquarium & watergarden Centres. Occupying a site of approximately one acre, and with over 7,000 square feet of indoor sales area, The Aquatic Habitat is Gloucestershire’s largest and longest established aquatic store. Open 7 days a week, the centre aims to cater for all aspects of the hobby, from small coldwater aquariums to large marine tanks and Koi ponds. Planted aquariums are a speciality, with 10 well stocked plant sales tanks, from a range of suppliers including “Tropica” and a comprehensive range of equipment for the planted aquarium, including Dennerle CO2 systems. The store also carries an extensive range of high quality tropical fish, with particular emphasis on some of the more unusual community species, such as dwarf cichlids, rainbows, unusual tetras and small barbs. There is usually a good range of plecostomas & corydoras catfish, along with the inevitable oddballs. Health and quality is a priority here. All freshwater fish are quarantined on arrival & sales tanks are individually filtered to minimise any risk of cross infection. Marine enthusiasts are also well catered for with 42 large tanks containing an enviable selection of marine fish and corals. The store buys exclusively from TMC, and with the Bristol branch just a short trip down the M5, new stocks arrive frequently. Coldwater enthusiasts are also well looked after with a good range of more unusual fish such as weather loach, stone suckers, minnows, etc. along with a fine selection of fancy goldfish. In addition to the fish there is a huge range of equipment, from most major manufacturers, and a good selection of aquariums, including 15 working display tanks ranging in size from 25 litres to over 700. Pond enthusiasts will find a massive selection of pumps, liners and filters and other equipment available all year round. The selection of pond fish, in season, is hard to beat, with everything from small goldfish to large, quality, Japanese koi. Outdoors, there are 10 display ponds, plus, in season, an area of over 2000 sq ft devoted to the sale of pond plants. The experienced staff are knowledgeable and always willing to help.
