| Little Pet Store in Gateshead is a family-run business. Owner George, and wife Margaret, have been working together at the shop for 40 years and have recently been teaching their grandson Craig the trade. The staff told Practical Fishkeeping: "Don't let the name fool you. Come in and see for yourself the size of our premises. The business started 1965 and we have over 100 tank with tropical fish coldwater fish. We stock every thing from Neons and Guppies to Butterfly fish and arowanas. In the coldwater section stocks include everything from common goldfish to different kinds of orandas, moors, bubble eyes and celestials. "We keep a comprehensive range of live plants as well as a large selection of plastic plants of all sizes. And we have a large range of ornaments and accessories. You can buy tanks from 12" to 60" from stock and we can order you any size you want, up to 144" x 36" x 36". "We have built-up a good working relationship with our customers who come for advice and free water tests. Our shop is split in two sections: the aquatic centre and the pet shop, where we sell small animals and birds, kittens etc. We have dog food from �6.99, dog and cat beds, rabbit food, hamster food, bird food and accessories." |
